Milina K.'s body found: Police investigate suspected murder!

The case of Milina K. from Luckenwalde, who had been missing since September 25, 2021, has now come to a sad conclusion. On August 12, 2025, her body was discovered in a forest area in Saxony-Anhalt. The circumstances of her disappearance and the situation in which she was found lead investigators to assume a homicide, as Bild.de reports. Milina was only 22 years old at the time of her disappearance and lived in Luckenwalde.

The night she was last seen, the young woman was in Nuthepark. She met friends there and was last seen alive around 1:30 a.m. Her bike was later found in the park while her cell phone sent its last signal a few hours after her disappearance. Even then, the police suspected that Milina had not left the park alive, reports rbb24.de.

The search operation and the investigation

After her disappearance, a huge search operation was launched in which the police searched for Milina with a large number of emergency services, including divers and helicopters. Their friends and acquaintances were also named and social media was used to obtain information. Nevertheless, their trail remained uncertain for almost four years.

In the spring of 2022, the public prosecutor's office conducted an investigation against a person known by name, but without any significant progress. As a result of the new findings about the location that was assigned to Milina K., the police are now looking for further clues and witnesses. In particular, she asks for information from people who saw Milina alive on September 25, 2021 between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. or who can provide other information about her disappearance. A reward of 5,000 euros has been offered for crucial information that leads to the conviction of the perpetrators.

Missing persons cases in Germany

Milina K.'s case is not an isolated case. In Germany, thousands of people disappear every year; in 2022 there were almost 104,000. Statistics show that about half of missing person cases are solved within the first week, while over 80 percent are found within a month. Only around 3 percent of cases remain unsolved for more than a year, as Focus.de notes. More than two thirds of the missing people are male; around 50 percent are children and young people.

The increase in missing unaccompanied refugee children since 2016 is particularly shocking. This issue not only raises ethical questions, but also regarding the recording of their fate. People often disappear without anyone missing them, which can be particularly true for socially isolated older people.

Milina K. will not be forgotten, and her story opens eyes to the challenges and drama associated with missing person cases in our society. The police are doing everything they can to clarify the circumstances of their tragic fate and bring justice to the perpetrator or perpetrators.
