The sports field on Koenigsmarckstrasse in Brandenburg an der Havel will be redesigned and a playground will be added for the city's youngest residents. The groundbreaking ceremony for this exciting project will take place on Monday, October 13, 2025 at 3:30 p.m. Mayor Michael Müller and mayor Udo Geiseler will be present and warmly invite citizens, especially children and young people, to take part in this special event. A special highlight: the little guests are welcome to bring their sand toys with them!
The redesign not only offers a new playground, but also represents an important step in urban development. “The built environment shapes children and young people from an early age,” explains the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Planning (MIL). In this context, the importance of projects for children and young people in the city is also emphasized, because they have the opportunity to actively shape their surroundings. Initiatives such as “The City Discoverers” and “denkmal aktiv”, which the Brandenburg Chamber of Architects and the German Foundation for Monument Protection rely on, promote awareness of one's own living environment and the values associated with it.

But it's not just the sports field that is being redesigned - the castle park in Plaue also attracts colorful events. On June 1st and 2nd, 2024, the 11th festival will take place in the castle park, a Europe-wide day of action that will offer numerous creative offerings such as music, dance and yoga from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The restoration of the historic Art Nouveau railings of the old Plauer Bridge by local entrepreneurs is also part of the city's beautification, as are the honest efforts of the Castle Park Association, which organizes monthly work assignments to maintain the park.
One project that has already been carried out is the filling of a new path over the old sports field, which will improve access to nature and play opportunities for the local population. Citizens can actively participate in community activities, such as the scrap collection on January 27th, which is intended to support the preservation of the Art Nouveau railings.
