Brandenburg's mayoral election 2025: New and old faces in the race!
On September 28, 2025, things got going again in Brandenburg: citizens elected their new mayors in 18 municipalities. A look at the other elections shows: In Rheinsberg, Frank-Rudi Schwochow (BVB/Free Voters) was able to prevail against his competitors with 65.2% of the votes. In Nuthe-Urstromtal, Stefan Scheddin, an individual candidate, remains in office with an excellent 92.9%. In Teltow, André Freymuth from the CDU prevailed with 52.1%, while voters in Luckenwalde will decide on October 19th whether Jochen Neumann (35.1%) or Matthias Grunert from the SPD (15.7%) will take the helm. The election in Eisenhüttenstadt will be similarly exciting, where a decision will be made on October 12th between Maik Diepold from the AfD (37.8%) and Marko Henkel from the SPD (26.9%).
The elections in context
The mayoral elections in Brandenburg are not taking place in this form for the first time.
