Brandenburg's eco-model regions: Submit ideas for an organic future now!
In Brandenburg, there is currently a lot of work being done on an eco-action plan that envisages the establishment of new eco-model regions. The aim is not only to improve the regional supply of organic food, but also to increase sales and promote appreciation for local organic products. Two model regions are currently active in Brandenburg - in Havelland and in Prignitz-Ruppin, where the focus is on regional organic fruit and vegetables as well as logistics solutions. But there is news: From January 2026, concepts for a third eco-model region can be submitted. This reports City Gazette Online.
To promote regional management, the Brandenburg Ministry of Agriculture has provided for the sponsorship of a lead partner. An absolute plus point of this initiative is that the funding can be granted as full financing or a grant of up to 100% of the eligible expenses. This creates a significant incentive to take the necessary steps to implement sustainable value chains in the organic sector. The funding opportunities run until December 2028 and it is hoped that regional management will be continued beyond this period.
Submission phase and online information
The time component is particularly important: The period for submitting the concepts is between January 5th and 11th, 2026. In this context, the requirements should not go unmentioned: The concepts must include a clear starting point, the development goal, planned activities and cooperation partners. Anyone who would like to find out more about the funding opportunities has the chance to take part in an online event on November 12th. Anyone interested can get comprehensive information here.
With this initiative, the Ministry of Agriculture clearly shows that it has a good hand when it comes to promoting the regional organic economy. And not only that: a big step is also being taken towards sustainable awareness in society.
By promoting and expanding regional organic value chains, not only will local agriculture recover, but demand for high-quality, sustainable food from the region will also continue to increase. In this way, the eco-action plan becomes an important building block in the development of a sustainable agricultural economy in Brandenburg.
