BSG Chemie Leipzig: Is Wendt coming back? Four new arrivals cause excitement!
In an exciting move, BSG Chemie Leipzig announced on Friday, June 13, 2025 that it had signed four new players. Particular attention is paid to the return of Philipp Wendt, who is moving back to Leipzig after a year at Carl Zeiss Jena. The 28-year-old, who played a total of 160 competitive games for the Chemists, brings a lot of experience and leadership qualities. MDR reports.
Wendt will enrich the chemistry family again after leaving the club a year ago. Before that, he played in Leipzig-Leutzsch for a remarkable seven years and during this time he developed into a real “loudspeaker” and leading player. His departure from the team was painful both from a sporting and a personal perspective, as he himself describes it. Even though he only made eleven appearances for Jena last season, the connection to BSG Chemie remains strong. Chemie Leipzig highlights that he will continue to be a fan of the club and plans to actively support the team and his former teammates.
The new faces in Leipzig
In addition to Wendt, BSG Chemie has introduced three other new signings: goalkeeper Florian Horenburg from Viktoria Berlin, young goalkeeper Tom Eisfeld from their own U19 and attacker Julius Hoffmann from 1. FC Magdeburg II. Horenburg, 23 years old, brings valuable experience with 20 appearances in the regional league and will compete for the regular place in goal. The 18-year-old Eisfeld is also excited about the challenges that lie ahead of him in the regional league. MDR reports.
21-year-old Julius Hoffmann only got playing time sporadically last season, but was able to score six goals in his 21 appearances. With the move to Chemie Leipzig, he could have a new chance to establish himself in the team's starting eleven.
End in style
Philipp Wendt emphasizes that he will always remember the DFB Cup game against Regensburg and other highlight matches such as the floodlit game against 1860 Munich. “The chemistry fans were always there for us, whether in good or difficult times,” he says, thanking us for their constant support. Even though he wanted to concentrate on his time in Jena, the well-being of the chemists was always important to him. His farewell was emotional, and the return is seen by many as an important step for the coming season.
The Chemie Leipzig team can be excited about the coming season, in which a breath of fresh air and new faces will enrich the team. Whether and how the new additions will take off remains to be seen. One thing is certain: June 13, 2025 could go down as a turning point in the history of BSG Chemie.
