Cottbus celebrates with BOOMTOWN”: humorous film about the future of the city!
Exciting things are happening in Cottbus/Chóśebuz: The new film communication project “BOOMTOWN Cottbus | 100,000” aims to bring a breath of fresh air into the city. On Tuesday evening, the short film, in which a newcomer plays the role of the 100,000th. City dweller plays, premiered at the Cottbus Film Festival. The goal is clear: to arouse great interest in the city and to present its current changes in a humorous way. Cottbus.de reports that the film presents Cottbus as a growing, courageous city with a direct character.
The city tour under Mayor Tobias Schick highlights the authenticity of Cottbus. “The film is intended to arouse curiosity and show the positive changes in our region,” he explains. Central projects are discussed in the film, including the Medical University of Lausitz - Carl Thiem, the innovative strength of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and the development of the climate-neutral Seevorstadt on the Cottbus Baltic Sea. There is also space for the most modern railway depot in Europe belonging to Deutsche Bahn and the Lausitz Science Park as an innovation location. Niederlausitz Current adds that these topics form part of the new communication campaign, which is intended to strengthen Cottbus as a place to live and work.
Accompanying measures and citizen participation
In addition to the film screening, a visibility offensive will be launched that will put the city in the right light with posters, LED displays, floor stickers and flyers. Things are also happening in the digital world: an accompanying social media series on topics such as togetherness, culture, science, sport and business is being launched. Here, citizens are invited to share their own impressions under the motto “What do you love about Cottbus?!” to share.
The project is not a coincidence, but the result of close collaboration between the Cottbus City Marketing Association and the City of Cottbus/Chóśebuz as well as the film production by Sons of Motion Pictures. A second round of the project is already being planned: Next January, a “Best of Cottbus” will premiere as a new image film at the New Year’s reception. Cottbus.de points out that the current film is also available on the city's official YouTube channel.
The response is promising and it is expected that the film and the accompanying activities will significantly support the city's fortunes. Cottbus with all its facets shows that the city is on the move and has many exciting projects in the pipeline.
