Cottbus fights: unemployment rate remains constant at 6.0%!
In June 2025, the unemployment rate in the Cottbus agency district remains stable at 6.0 percent, which corresponds to the level of the previous month. Around 18,688 people are currently registered unemployed, which means an increase of 471 people affected in comparison to the previous year, such as Niederlausitz currently reported. The increase in the numbers is also continued with the newly reported unemployed: 3,578 people were registered in June, which in 192 means more than in the previous year - but 282 less than in May.
The situation of long -term unemployment is particularly noteworthy. In June 2025, 6,691 people were long -term unemployed, which is only a decline of 13 people compared to the previous month and five people compared to the previous year. The demand for workers remains unbroken. Companies reported 5,553 vacancies in June, in particular in the areas of sale, warehouse management, care, office as well as protection and security. This should also pleasure the training applicants who currently have the opportunity to choose from 2,908 vocational training positions reported. Fewer applicants have registered for the training year 2025 - only 2,601, which means a decline of 15 compared to the previous year.
Youth unemployment is 5.2 percent in the agency district. 1,372 young people are without a job, that is 29 more than in the previous year. The situation of foreign workers has also tightened: 3,769 foreign unemployed were reported in June, 84 more than in the previous year.

The regional differences are also remarkable. The Luckau district holds the top with an unemployment rate of only 3.3 percent, while in the Forst district, the quota is highest with 8.7 percent. This range clearly shows that there are big differences in the regional labor market.
