Cottbus holiday children create their own city with creativity and team spirit!

In Cottbus, the city was transformed into a creative land of milk and honey from August 4th to 8th, 2025: Around 90 holiday children, with and without disabilities, turned their own ideas into reality at the Ströbitz Pedagogical Center for Nature and Environment and designed their own city. How Niederlausitz Current reported, the event offered a rich program that not only promoted the children's creative work but also their social interaction.

The children had the opportunity to build a town hall, a bank and an incubator. There was even a graffiti workshop. The participants worked in different stations and were able to relax in the afternoon with a variety of leisure activities. What is particularly worth mentioning is that the children's city was designed to be barrier-free for the first time, so that all children had the opportunity to actively participate.

Creativity and team spirit in focus

Mayor Tobias Schick praised the creativity and team spirit of the young builders at the city festival. The children not only developed their own ideas, but also created their own currency called “Krebsi” that they could use for their business within the city. This innovative approach reflected the children's engagement and imagination.

The success of the Children's City is not only a sign of the great cooperation between the organizers and the young participants. The Urban development of Cottbus highlights that this was the fourth time the children's city has been held - an indication that something really good has grown here.

Events for the whole family

Such events are important because they not only promote children's creativity, but also their social skills. In addition to the children's city, there are numerous other initiatives that are in tune with the times, such as those from the Rhine-Main area. Offers here Events4Family a colorful calendar of events that will delight the whole family. From children's theater to street festivals and cultural events - the possibilities are almost endless and invite the entire family to take an active part in social life.

In this sense, it is important that activities such as the Children's City in Cottbus also find a regular platform to not only offer children fun, but also to teach them valuable life skills. It remains exciting to see what the next edition of the event will bring!
