These high bonuses motivate not only the professional teams, but also numerous amateur teams that find themselves in the lottery pots. There is a clear difference in the distribution: all 18 Bundesliga teams as well as the first 14 teams of the 2nd Bundesliga are in the professional pot. The amateur pot includes the remaining 32 teams, including some second division teams that are considered amateurs.

The teams in the first round are made up of the promoted teams from the 3rd league, including DSC Arminia Bielefeld and SG Dynamo Dresden as well as 1.
