Energie Cottbus is off to a hot start to training: new arrivals and returnees delight fans!

The summer break is over and things are starting again at FC Energie Cottbus! On June 22, 2025, the team began their preparation for the new 2025/26 season in the 3rd league in temperatures of over 30 degrees Celsius. Around 100 fans came to the start of training to watch the players' first sessions. The euphoria is palpable and the expectations are high, especially after the first intensive training session, which began with exciting ball games. The head coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz was also on site and observed the exercises with a critical eye.

This year the team has been strengthened with eight new additions and there are also three trial players in the squad. What particularly catches the eye is new signing Nyamekye Awortwie-Grant, who immediately reached for the water bottle before the session began. The talented Theo Ogbidi and Moritz Hannemann, who is training individually after an injury, are also already involved. Among the new faces is Lukas Michelbrink, who is moving to midfield on loan from Hertha BSC, and Jannis Boziaris, who is coming from Astoria Walldorf.

New faces and talents in the squad

The FC Energie Cottbus squad is showing promising developments. Young Finn Heidrich, previously U19 captain, has been promoted to the first team, and U19 defender Joel Kwarteng Awuah has also been given his chance to prove himself in training. The squad has a total age of 25.4 years and has a total market value of 4.60 million euros. Especially in the midfield, where the average age is 24.1 years and the market value is 1.63 million euros, the team has a lot of potential to really get started in the 3rd league.

The statistics show that Energie Cottbus has a good hand when it comes to transfers. While no income was generated from transfer fees, there were expenses of 75,000 euros. However, this transfer balance could still change, as those responsible are still interested in potential new additions to further strengthen the team and optimize the squad.

The challenge before the new season

With an attractive team and a committed coaching crew under Tim Schneider, who is returning after a year, the foundations for a successful season have been laid. He and Tobias Röder will prepare the boys for the best. One player in particular stands out in the team: Ted Tattermusch, who at 1.94 meters is the tallest player in the squad. With a solid mix of experience and fresh talent, the team will do everything they can to do well and delight the fans in the coming season. The anticipation is great and all eyes are on the training. So it remains to be seen how the newcomers and young talents will perform.
