Energie Cottbus tests dynamo debutant Dennis Duah in trial training!

A new face at the Friendship Stadium: Dennis Duah, talented central defender from Dynamo Dresden, started his trial training at FC Energie Cottbus on June 27, 2025. The 21-year-old, who has not played a competitive game since May 2024, is a possible reinforcement candidate in Cottbus, while Dynamo no longer sees a future for him. Duah's contract with the Saxons runs until 2026, but the team around sports director Thomas Brendel no longer plans to use him.

As a reminder: Duah was signed by Hamburger SV II last summer, where he played 78 games in the regional league, scoring one goal and providing four assists. However, after his commitment to Dynamo, the top performer was unable to assert himself and has not been in the squad since mid-December 2024, and he was also left out of the national cup. Since Cottbus is about to leave Filip Kusic and Edgar Kaizer in defense, the team urgently needs a new lease of life and a look at consistent options.

A race against time

The trial training in Cottbus could bring Duah the change he so urgently needs. FC Energie has already signed eight new signings, but the squad for the 2025/26 season is still far from complete. If successful, he could form the seventh new addition to the defense and would be a promising alternative to Dennis Slamar, Tim Campulka and Nyamekye Awortwie-Grant. The search for a new club for Duah is currently underway, and FC Energie is offering him the chance for match practice Liga3-online.de.

On Friday, Duah had breakfast with his new team and then started training, while the first test match against Wacker Schönwalde, which starts at 6:30 p.m., will take place without him. Cottbus has the reins firmly in hand and is looking for the best talent to strengthen the defense. The athletic management is hoping for exactly such talents - strength and athleticism are qualities that stand out in his playing style.

The competition never sleeps

In addition to Duah, other trial players such as Justin Butler and Leon Guwara are also competing for a permanent place in the squad. At Cottbus, those responsible have a good sense of which players they want to sign in order to reorganize the defense. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen whether the young central defender has enough persuasiveness to not only grow into the team, but also to assert himself on this positional flank.

The summer transfer window remains dynamic, with clubs ready to sign new talent to strengthen their squad Statista. The influence of financial opportunities cannot be underestimated, because while large clubs like Bayern Munich have recently set records in transfer spending, smaller clubs like Cottbus are faced with the challenge of acting wisely and efficiently.
