Energie Cottbus triumphs 2-0 against Neustrelitz in the friendly!
FC Energie Cottbus fought for another victory last weekend in preparation for the new season. In the second test match, the team defeated TSG Neustrelitz 2-0 in the Werner-Seelenbinder Stadium in Herzberg. Over 1,100 spectators provided an attractive backdrop and witnessed a solid performance by the Cottbus team.
The game started promisingly for energy when Felix Hofmann sank a precise shot from around 25 meters into the net in the 11th minute. The early lead gave the coach's team action and they were defensively stable throughout the entire game. Goalkeeper Alexander Sebald was challenged throughout, but only had a few real chances to save. Niederlausitz Current reports that Erik Engelhardt increased the score to 2-0 in the 54th minute after a fine pass from Justin Butler.
Injury and challenges
However, there was a downer: Lukas Michelbrink had to be replaced in the final phase of the game after he sprained his ankle. The exact severity of his injury is still unclear. Despite this negative news, the team is already preparing for the next challenges. On Tuesday, the Cottbus team will face Eintracht Mahlsdorf at 6:30 p.m., followed by another friendly against Greifswalder FC on July 9th at 2 p.m. RBB24 has reported that the competitions represent an important phase of preparation before the training camp, which takes place in Austria from July 17th to 23rd.
The third division season won't be long in coming. Their kick-off will take place on August 2nd with a home game against 1. FC Saarbrücken. The coaching team already has an idea of how the players should develop in training camp in order to be prepared for these challenges. The form curve seems to be increasing after the team was able to win 4-2 against VSG Altglienicke on Friday.
