Energie Cottbus: Wollitz presents two new talents for promotion!

After a convincing 3-0 win against Mannheim, Energie Cottbus is in a solid seventh place in the current season. Coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz insisted on informing the fans about the next steps in the transfer market. The club recently signed two new signings: Merveille Biankadi and Simon Straudi, in order to increase the squad width and get closer to the goal of staying in the league. Image reports that these transfers are particularly important after a major upheaval in the team.

Merveille Biankadi, a 30-year-old winger, comes with a lot of experience from Arminia Bielefeld, where he played in 31 games in the 2nd Bundesliga and scored four goals. Biankadi, who also shone in the DFB Cup and reached the final with Bielefeld, will spice up Cottbus' offensive. Coach Wollitz highlights his over 200 third division games, which give him valuable experience. Transfer market informed that Biankadi has scored 19 goals in 77 games over the last two seasons.

The new faces in defense

Simon Straudi, the 26-year-old right-back, is the first Italian in the history of Energie Cottbus. His path most recently took him back to Germany via Austria Klagenfurt, where he played 24 first division games in the previous season. His commitment follows a secret trial session in which he was able to impress in training. Sports show highlights that Cottbus previously only had a single player on the right wing in the squad, which clearly shows the need for action.

The move is a home game for Straudi, as he began his career in the youth ranks of FC Südtirol before moving to Bremen. Here, too, things didn't go entirely according to plan as he wasn't able to make a competitive appearance for Werder Bremen. After his return to Austria Klagenfurt, where he played 89 games, it was clear that the club had to take action to breathe new life into the defense.

Goals and expectations

With Biankadi and Straudi in the team, Cottbus not only gives the fans reason to hope, but also relies on the experience and strengths of these players to ensure they stay in the league. Coach Wollitz will have the opportunity to show his new players on the pitch for the first time next Wednesday, September 18th, in the game against Erzgebirge Aue (7 p.m.).

The new additions could get fit for the game in time and significantly strengthen the offense and defense. Fans can look forward to seeing how the team develops under new influence.
