FC Energie Cottbus dominates FC Strausberg and moves into the quarter-finals!
On October 12, 2025, FC Energie Cottbus catapulted itself into the quarter-finals of the Brandenburg State Cup with a brilliant 5-0 win over FC Strausberg. In front of more than 2,000 enthusiastic spectators, the team showed an impressive performance that impressively demonstrated the dominance of the Cottbus team.
The game, which took place as part of the 36th edition of the Brandenburg State Cup, began with a quick goal in the 14th minute when Ted Tattermusch converted a free kick from Leon Guwara. Despite a mixed initial phase in which FC Energie initially had difficulty converting their chances, the team soon picked up. An own goal from Häberle gave the Cottbus team 2-0 in the 25th minute, followed by a goal from Finn Heidrich just four minutes later. Another shot from Can Moustfa in the 42nd minute made the score 4-0.
Superiority and a bit of bad luck
After the break, FC Energie continued their game and had numerous more chances, which were, however, parried by the FC Strausberg goalkeeper. It wasn't until the 63rd minute that the Strausbergers managed to create their first real opportunity, which was also defused by keeper Max Böhnke. Erik Tallig tried twice from distance, but here too the Cottbus defense could not be overcome.
Things got strange in the 81st minute: Ted Tattermusch seemed to make it 5-0, but the goal was considered an own goal by Roger Sobotta. But that didn't stop the Cottbus team from celebrating, as they secured their ticket to the quarter-finals with this clear success. The performance in this game underlined the strength of the B juniors, who were also given a chance in the squad. Janis Zaydan, Edwin Kracht and Maris Schößler helped show the future of the club.
Further results in the state cup
Other teams were surprisingly eliminated from the state cup, including FSV Luckenwalde, who lost 3-1 to Oranienburger FC. SV Babelsberg 03, on the other hand, was able to come back with a clear 4-0 win against Union Klosterfelde, which secured them their first win after a series of defeats. The other results of the eight games in the first round show the great tension of the competition and the many surprises that the cup brings with it:
- Optik Rathenow – RSV Eintracht 4:5 n.E.
- VfL Nauen – BSC Preußen 0:9
- SV Buckow – VfB Hohenleipisch 0:1
- 1. FC Guben – VfB Krieschow 1:3 n.V.
- Victoria Seelow – Ludwigsfelder SV 2:1 n.V.
With a total of 597 goals in 116 games in the competition so far, which is an average of 5.53 goals per game, the cup shows that not only exciting games can be expected in Brandenburg, but also a lot of drama on the pitch. FC Energie Cottbus will go into the next round with hope and high expectations.
