FC Energie Cottbus: Long wait at the training camp in Austria!

On July 18, 2025, a new adventure began for FC Energie Cottbus in the heart of Austria. The team gathered in the dressing room on Thursday morning to start preparations for the 2025/26 season in the 3rd league. The first training session was completed on the pitch at 9:00 a.m. – a good start to a long day, as FC Energie reports.

After training there was lunch together to get the players in the mood for the long journey ahead. The departure to Austria was planned for 1 p.m., but due to the bus driver's driving times and the route chosen via Nuremberg and Regensburg, the journey was delayed and only ended at around 9:15 p.m. at the Best Western Parkhotel in Hardenberg, Mühlkreis. The team arrived three hours later than originally expected, as Tag24 reported.

A packed schedule

In order to further intensify the training, athletic trainer Tim Schneider asked the players to bring their training equipment to the hotel fitness room after they had moved into their rooms. The team ended the day of arrival with dinner together and a relaxed chat before going to bed early. A new training session is waiting the next morning!

Breakfast is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. and immediately follows the night's rest. The next training session is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. before the first test match as part of the training camp.

The first test match

At 6 p.m. FC Energie Cottbus will play against the Austrian first division team SV Oberbank Ried in the Innviertel Arena. Fans have the opportunity to follow the action in the live stream on FC EnergieTV. The planned test matches in the training camp represent a successful return after ten years - and there is great interest, as FC Energie and Tag24 underline.

The squad includes a total of 25 players, with Max Böhnke as the new goalkeeper and Tolcay Cigerci remaining in the team despite rumors of a change. The team is rounded off by all other players who are fit and ready to tackle the challenges of training camp and the upcoming season.
