Cottbus, Deutschland - On Saturday, June 28, 2025, in the Great House of State Theater Cottbus celebrated the premiere of the opera "The clever Füchlein" by Leoš Janáček. At 7:30 p.m. the curtain falls for a staging that illuminates the gravity of nature in the face of civilization from an animal-fantastic perspective.

director Armin Petras, known for his staging of "Katja Kabanowa", leads the audience through the history of the young Füchsin Schlaukopf. This mix of fairy tales and modern myth addresses the complicated relationship between the human world and the wildlife. Schraukopf is caught, raises the chickens to the revolution and finally finds their love for a fox. But fate does not evade here - the Füchsin is shot by the Wilderer, which underlines its tragic end in this urgent story.
