Traffic chaos in Dahme-Spreewald: Accidents and fires keep the police busy!
An exciting event has brought German road safety into focus. A notable theft was reported in the Zeesen business park on Thursday night. Two VW minibuses were attacked and the perpetrators tampered with the seats and the back seat of a Multivan. The total damage amounts to a five-digit euro amount. Forensics immediately began their work to catch the perpetrators. Information can be sent directly to the Schönefeld Airport Police Station on 030 63480 1221. This is what Niederlausitz Aktuell reports.
But that wasn't the only incident that marked Wednesday. There was a significant traffic accident on the A10 near Königs Wusterhausen when a MAN truck with a boat trailer became independent. The anchor came loose and hit a RENAULT van. This got the stones rolling and a TESLA car was also affected. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but the damage to property amounts to at least 20,000 euros. Even though there were no traffic delays, the incident was recorded off the highway. Traffic remained flowing and all vehicles remained operational.
Accidents and their consequences
On that same day, there was a collision on the A13 near Duben between two VW cars, which collided due to failure to give way. There were no injuries here either, but the property damage amounted to around 6,000 euros. At least in this case the vehicles remained drivable.
The traffic accident involving a motor scooter in Zeuthen on Wednesday evening was particularly alarming. A 53-year-old driver fell and had to be taken to hospital, while the damage to the scooter was estimated at around 2,000 euros. The road was partially closed for an hour to coordinate the necessary rescue efforts.
It was also an unforgettable evening in Schönefeld, where an OPEL Vectra burst into flames at around 8:30 p.m. The cause was a technical defect. The fire brigade was on site within half an hour and was able to extinguish the fire - fortunately without any injuries, but there were traffic delays due to a partial closure until 11 p.m.
Fire and its dangers
In Königs Wusterhausen, things continued despite the risk of fire. Shortly before 10 p.m., a tenant who set paper on fire caused the fire department to be called out, during which a 45-year-old had to be rescued from possible smoke inhalation. This caused material damage worth several thousand euros and an investigation was initiated.
The night was more dramatic in Schulzendorf, where a shed and a conifer tree went up in flames. The 77-year-old resident was rescued in time as the fire spread to a neighboring property. The firefighting operation lasted until Thursday morning and the property damage is estimated to be in the six-figure euro range. Shelter had to be organized for those affected and the warning app NINA was activated.
Analysis tools and prevention approaches
The large number of traffic accidents that have now taken place shed light on the importance of comprehensive statistics that make it possible to obtain an accurate picture of the traffic safety situation in Germany. According to Destatis, such data is not only essential for legislation and traffic education, but also for improving infrastructure and vehicle technology. A future-oriented approach to making roads safer can be promoted in this way.
