Around 20 lovers of restored GDR scooters will gather from June 20th to 22nd, 2025 for a special meeting that is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. The event is organized by Marcus Schulze, who values both the region and the passion for classic cars. His weekend house near Lindthal is often the starting point for exciting trips.
The idea for this inspiring vintage scooter meeting came about during a hike in the Erzgebirge by Herbert Leonhardt and Hartmut Schulze. The urge to celebrate the fascination for historic vehicles together with like-minded people brings together participants from the Erzgebirge, Leipzig and Dresden. The first family scooter meeting took place in the Erzgebirge in 2010 and has since become a popular tradition.
A family day in the forest pool
The destination of the current trip is Finsterwalde and Crinitz, where a family afternoon in the forest pool is planned on Saturday. Here participants can look forward to a nice get-together with waffles, coffee, cake, ice cream and other drinks. Marcus Schulze remembers that in 2019 the classic car enthusiasts were welcomed with coffee and cake at the Waldbad Crinitz - a warm tradition that will be continued this year.
What is particularly pleasing is the broad age structure of the participants: most are over 50, but the next generation is also at the start. Schulze's sons, 15-year-old Fritz and 22-year-old Curt, bring a breath of fresh air to the event. Curt has already restored four scooters himself, while Fritz takes care of her grandpa's old scooter.
