Almost 59,000 euros for Brandenburg clubs: A strong signal from MBS!
On Monday, June 23, 2025, the Mittelbrandenburgische Sparkasse (MBS) do-good breakfast took place in Café Herzschlag. Representatives from 20 different associations from the city of Brandenburg an der Havel came together to exchange ideas about current projects and hear a lecture on “Securing association boards”. A highlight of the event was the presentation of donations from MBS for the first half of 2025, which totaled almost 59,000 euros. Andreas Schulz, the CEO of MBS, and Steffen Scheller, the city's mayor, were among those present.
MBS has visibly expanded its commitment to the region in recent years. In 2024, a whopping 202,000 euros were donated and sponsored for volunteer work in the city. MBS made a total of 4.3 million euros available to society as a whole, of which 8 million euros were distributed specifically for charitable purposes. This makes MBS one of the largest non-governmental sponsors in the state of Brandenburg. As the city of Brandenburg reports, such actions strengthen the basis for numerous projects.
Funded projects in focus
When the donations were handed over, several projects that MBS supports were highlighted. This includes, for example, the Animal Welfare Association Brandenburg e.V., which is planning to install a new sun roof for dogs. The Altstädter e.V. also receives support for the “Christmas Magic in the Old Town 2025”, an event that spreads joy not only during Advent. Another example is the Kirchmöser e.V. railway sports club, which also wants to appeal to older members with its “Project 70 Plus”. Finally, the Hospice Movement Brandenburg e.V. is supported with garden tools for the hospice terrace, which benefits the quality of life of the residents.
Support offers for commitment and volunteer work
In addition to the regional funding from MBS, there are also nationwide support programs that will be of interest to many committed people. The German Foundation for Commitment and Volunteering provides information about various programs that are currently available. These include, among others, the “FuturE” program for the qualification of aspiring managers in voluntary work and the “100xDigital” program, which aims to support 100 non-profit organizations in their digital transformation. The application deadline here is July 7, 2025.
There is also a micro-funding program that provides financial support for educational activities on global topics, as well as the Future Impact Fund, which supports projects that strengthen inclusion and social cohesion. These initiatives prove that civic engagement and volunteerism are needed more than ever to overcome social challenges.
So if you are looking for financing options or support offers, you will find a lot of useful information under the links mentioned. MBS also offers comprehensive details about its commitments, which can certainly enrich many local projects.
