Bat Night 2025: Exciting events in Brandenburg for the whole family!
On the last weekend of August, more precisely on August 30th and 31st, 2025, the International Batnight takes place. This special event runs throughout Germany and offers plenty of opportunity to experience the bats' fascinating nightlife up close. There are numerous activities on the program in Brandenburg, as can be read at [Antenne Brandenburg](https://www.antennebrandenburg.de/service/veranstaltungen/ Veranstaltungstipps/termine/batnight— events-in-brandenburg.html).
Overall, most events explain in a variety of ways how the little flying artists can be supported, for example by growing insect- and bat-friendly gardens. Did you know that bats show off their acrobatic flying skills in the evening hours? This is the perfect time for a nighttime excursion!

Bat protection in Germany
Beyond the events, it is important to also draw attention to the protection of these animals. In Bavaria, for example, 25 different species of bats have been identified, some of which are on the list of threatened species. The Bavarian State Office for the Environment has launched a “bat species assistance program” since 1985 to stabilize the population. The level of knowledge about the distribution of the species has improved significantly.
The importance of bats cannot be overstated: they contribute to pollination and control the insect population. Anyone who would like to actively work to protect these animals can not only learn but also help directly by attending the various Bat Night events.
