Volunteering in Havelland: New platform connects over 50 clubs!

September 27, 2025 was the big day for the clubs in Rathenow. Over 50 clubs presented their diverse works and projects on Märkischer Platz and in the cultural center. A colorful program of animal protection, art, culture and sport thrilled visitors and offered numerous hands-on stations. For example, guests could try out football, learn cheerleading or try their hand at a glider cockpit. Rathenow24 reports that a stage program and culinary offerings could not be missing, and workshops for volunteers rounded off the offering. Topics such as “child protection in volunteer work” and “ensuring commitment” were actively addressed in the workshops.

A special highlight of the event was the introduction of the new volunteer platform, which District Administrator Roger Lewandowski officially put into operation. This platform brings together important information and is accessible via the My HVL app. Available free of charge for iOS and Android devices, it is intended to significantly increase the visibility and accessibility of volunteering in Havelland. Havelland Humhub informs that the app not only offers its own club area, but also opens up communication opportunities between users, which promotes exchange and engagement.

A look at the volunteer platform

The platform is a real treasure for anyone interested in volunteering in the Havelland district. In addition to the ability to maintain club pages, users can actively comment on posts and have an overview of all appointments in the calendar. This not only strengthens the community, but also motivates people to continue to get involved. The help section provides additional information for those interested, making things even easier.

Volunteering in Germany

The trend of volunteering is not just a local phenomenon. German volunteer work shows that voluntary and social commitment in Germany often takes place in clubs or voluntary services. Whether EVS, FSJ or BFD – the possibilities are diverse. These activities not only promote personal development and new skills, but also combine social exchange and social contribution. Volunteer work is not tied to formal requirements and also benefits refugees or international people.

Overall, it can be said that the combination of the event on Club Day and the new volunteer platform represents an important step for volunteer work in the Havelland district. The initiatives offer us the opportunity to become even more active in our community and show that volunteering is not just a buzzword, but a living part of our everyday lives. Let’s tackle it and create it together!
