Wave of burglaries in Havelland: inns and shops in their sights!
In recent days there have been some notable incidents in the Brandenburg region that have kept both the police and residents on their toes. Unfortunately, break-ins, theft and unpleasant surprises are no longer uncommon.
A particularly striking case occurred on September 27, 2025 in Milower Land. Unknown perpetrators tried to break into an inn through several windows. Ultimately, they managed to get inside via a pried open patio door. It currently remains unclear whether anything was stolen. The police have secured evidence and have already filed a criminal complaint. In such cases, criminal investigations are often carried out in order to shed light on the matter. The regulation for burglary is anchored in Section 243 of the Criminal Code and can be punished with a prison sentence of up to ten years, as Fachanwalt.de explains.
Break-ins and their consequences
Another incident in the region occurred in Wustermark, where a cellar shed “At the Dining House of Nations” was broken into between September 26th and 27th. The stolen goods included a bicycle and an e-scooter, which have now been put on a wanted list. The affected victim secured his basement himself, which shows how important it is to pay attention to your own safety.
At least there seems to be a ray of hope: According to GDV, almost every second burglary fails because the perpetrators take too long to get into the house. Mechanical security on windows and doors is the decisive measure to deter potential burglars. Anyone who invests in burglary-resistant doors and windows is taking an important step towards security. It is therefore advisable to seek advice on appropriate security solutions.
A number of crimes were also recorded in Brandenburg an der Havel. On September 26th, unknown people tried to break into a shop in the old town, but failed to tamper with the lock on an entrance door. The material damage is estimated at around 50 euros. On the same day, trick thieves also found an easy victim in a restaurant in Neustadt. While one perpetrator provided a distraction, the other secretly stole a wallet. The total damage here amounts to a mid-three-digit amount.
Fire protection and security
The fire brigade had a different mission: on the afternoon of September 27th, a small fire in the senior center on Bahnhofstrasse gave cause for concern. The cause was burnt food from a resident. While the nursing staff quickly extinguished the flames, three people had to be taken to hospital with slight breathing difficulties. Fortunately, there was no damage to the building.
Last but not least, there was also a fire operation for the fire department on the night of September 27th. Several rubbish bins in the northern part of the city were set on fire and the flames damaged the facade of a supermarket, although the building remained unscathed. The estimated damage is around 1,500 euros, and the criminal police are also involved in the investigation.
Given the high number of burglaries and other crimes in the area, it is clear that residents should be vigilant about their safety. Adhering to basic safety precautions, such as installing alarm systems and securing windows and doors, are essential. After all, feeling safe in your own home is priceless!
