Havelport buys the last free property in the Wustermark freight traffic center!
In Wustermark, a lot is happening in the area of logistics: The last free property in the freight transport center (GVZ) was sold. With this sale, the entire area of around 134 hectares is now fully marketed, which is a big plus for the entire region. The buyer of this valuable area of around 22,000 square meters is Havelport Berlin GmbH, which has already operated an inland port in the GVZ. The managing director Klaus Pietack describes the acquisition as strategically crucial for the future development of the port.
Due to the property purchase, the harbor area on the Havel Canal will expand to almost 75,000 square meters, which makes the location further attractive. The contract negotiations for this deal extended a bit, since the area was used as a storage area during the renovation of the Kuhdammbrücke. Original plans were to build a heavy goods warehouse for containers and large goods there. However, this idea had to be abandoned due to too high costs for the archaeological examination.
Investments Safe future
A clever move by Havelport Berlin GmbH: Around 1.5 million euros are now being invested for attaching the new area. The plans include fencing, lighting and fire protection devices to ensure safety and accessibility. However, the time frame remains unclear when the area will be available. Building permits and negotiations with future customers are still pending.
The Wustermark freight traffic center is already fully utilized. There are currently 44 companies that have created more than 4,000 jobs for the region. On the other bank of the Havel Canal, the Wustermark Nord industrial area is also opened up, where the construction of a warehouse and a data center is planned.
excellent connection
The excellent location of the freight transport center speaks for itself: it has a trimodal connection to national traffic axes, which includes both the main railway tracts and a junction to the Berlin motorway ring. In addition, there is a four -lane federal road B5 that leads directly to Berlin, as well as a public inland port with a connection to German overseas ports. This infrastructure makes Wustermark a highly interesting location for logistics companies.
In 2020, the Wustermark freight traffic center took 12th place out of around 100 GVZS examined in Europe. Five years ago it was still 17th. This positive development underlines the increasing importance of Wustermark as a logistics location and shows that there is a lot of potential here. The Fraunhofer working group for Supply Chain Services regularly conducts studies to check the market position of the best logistics regions in Germany. Together, the Wustermark region appears as an attractive player in the logistics sector, who takes the needs of the industry seriously.
In summary, it can be said that a lot is currently moving in Wustermark. With new investments and a solid economic basis, the freight traffic center shows that it will also be very popular in the future. The coming years should bring some exciting developments here.
How it goes on remains to be seen. We keep you up to date and observe the development in the freight traffic center.
