Karl's adventure village: Flying Döner nominated as the most innovative theme park in Europe!

The heart of Elstal shows that the combination of tradition and innovation can be a recipe for success. Karl's Adventure Village, known for its unique attractions, was nominated for the World of Parks Award in the Non-Coaster category. The main reason for this nomination is the new attraction “Flying Döner” and the associated strawberry kebab restaurant, both of which opened in April 2025. Owner Robert Dahl is pleased with the current ranking and reports that they are within reach of first place. Voting runs until August 20, and online voting is available at www.worldofparks.eu/voting to find.

The “Flying Döner” attraction has established itself as an unprecedented adventure ride and has been compared to a giant kebab skewer. When eating, visitors to the strawberry kebab restaurant can choose between veal or chicken as well as a vegetarian option. What is particularly striking is the reddish colored flatbread, which indicates the strawberry, and the fruity, spicy strawberry sauce, which rounds the whole thing off. Guests are also offered Ayran with a strawberry note. With around 100 seats, the restaurant also provides a pleasant atmosphere to fully enjoy the culinary experience.

Innovation and tradition

The history of the kebab offering at Karls dates back to the 1980s, when Turkish workers prepared kebabs during the strawberry harvest. The new themed area not only exceeded visitor numbers, but also won the hearts of guests. This is reflected in the fact that the new opening is the most successful at Karls in the last 20 years. In the fast-paced theme park industry, innovations like this make a real difference. Karls has a good knack for creative concepts and knows how to combine tradition with modern experiences.

But there is not only exciting news in Elstal. Innovation has also found its way into Dubai. Joby Aviation has successfully delivered its first electric air taxi, the S4, to the United Arab Emirates. With a six-year contract for exclusive operating rights, Joby is ready to establish an air taxi network in the metropolis of Dubai. The first passenger flights are planned for 2026, with the company hoping to appeal to passengers' tastes with its environmentally friendly technology for short, urban trips.

Future of mobility

The S4 is equipped with a zero-emission drive that not only protects the environment but also produces less noise than conventional helicopters. Joby plans to expand its network not only in Dubai, but also in the USA, such as New York and Los Angeles. Future routes could also connect Abu Dhabi and Dubai. However, this is still subject to approval from the responsible authorities.

At a time when progress and sustainability are very important, the interaction between leisure activities and innovative mobility is seen by many as future-oriented. While “Flying Döner” in Elstal increases the enjoyment of visitors, Joby in Dubai provides new ways of urban transportation. An exciting interaction that combines both an awareness of tradition and future-oriented thinking.
