Heat wave in Brandenburg: Tips for the cooling webinar on June 18th!
The first hot days of the year have already fallen upon us and a hot summer is just around the corner - this is already something to talk about in Cologne and beyond. Loud Moz.de The overheating of interior spaces can be counteracted with effective heat protection measures. A free web seminar on cooling homes will take place on June 18th at 5 p.m. Energy consultant Birgit Holfert from the Brandenburg Consumer Center will provide helpful tips and information about subsidies.
What can participants expect? The webinar covers relevant topics such as the various measures for cooling indoor spaces and highlights the advantages of greenery as an effective method against heat. After all, extreme temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius can not only be unpleasant, but can also cause health problems. In this context, it is expected that participants will be able to actively ask questions in the chat - a handout will be provided after the event so that the knowledge can have an impact for a long time.
The consequences of climate change
Climate change is becoming more and more apparent. The impact is noticeable in cities: warming temperatures lead to drought and increased rainfall. The Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction points out that particularly vulnerable groups such as children, pregnant women and older people can suffer from the consequences. Urban development and construction must therefore be strategically adapted to the new climatic conditions. BMWSB sees an urgent need for action and supports municipalities in expanding urban green spaces and implementing heat-adapted construction projects.
We are increasingly seeing measures in cities aimed at climate-adapted settlement and infrastructure development. This includes creating shady areas through green roofs and facades as well as improving water retention. Innovative approaches to urban planning rely on a combination of green spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also have a positive impact on air circulation and the microclimate in the city.
Green solutions for Cologne
How can we specifically respond to the challenges of the heat? A good approach is to promote green living environments. Cities should create networked recreational areas and offer shady “climate retreats” within walking distance. It's not just the number of trees that matters, but also the quality of the urban open spaces. City and green emphasizes that the climatic transformation of inner-city squares significantly improves the urban climate - for a livelier, more pleasant living environment.
Together we can work to preserve the quality of life in our cities. The future strategy for heat-adapted urban development will be the subject of political discussion, but citizens are also called upon to raise their voices and push for the creation of sustainable solutions. Together it is our job to make Cologne pleasant even on hot days. So keep cool and think about the green solutions that climate change offers us!
