Carnival in Brandenburg: Fools proclaim their reign despite the rain!

On November 11, 2025 it was that time again: the fifth season was ceremoniously ushered in in Brandenburg. The Brandenburg Carnival Club 1964 e.V. and the Havelnarren paraded through the city center under gloomy rain clouds. Despite the weather, the carnival community did not let itself be stopped and the fun still continued. As stadt-brandenburg.de reports, the city was decorated with colorful confetti and happy faces, as sweets flew into the crowd to lift the mood.

There was also a great atmosphere during the parade, which led from Wiesenweg via Bauhofstrasse, Steinstrasse and Hauptstrasse to the St. John's Monastery. Mayor Steffen Scheller caused a stir with a special action: he had himself chained to a kilogram cannonball and symbolically paid bridge tolls at the Steintorturm. The proceeds from this campaign go to the “Hoffnungstaler Stiftung Lobetal”, which looks after people with disabilities. This also made a positive contribution to society while the Jecken had fun.

Ceremonial proclamation and handover of keys

After the parade, the ceremonial proclamation awaited the carnival fans in St. John's Church. At 11:11 a.m. sharp, Scheller handed over the keys to the town hall - but they were only the spare keys, which didn't stop the fools from ceremoniously proclaiming their reign with the battle cries "Heveller Helau" and "KCH Dicke da!". This took place as part of a festive ceremony that was a highlight of the day for many.

The Brandenburg Carnival Club is starting its 62nd season under the motto: “Metal and glass, the facade decorates, Roland laughs, the fool rules.” The two clubs that came together on this day already have a long tradition in carnival: The BKC has been active since 1964, while the KCH is in its 57th season and is causing a stir with the motto “Whether the water is deep, whether the sky is wide – it is fool’s time at the KCH”. Both clubs are looking forward to starting their showpiece sessions from January 31, 2025, for which tickets are already available.

The young princes

Special attention was also paid to the children's prince couple of the Brandenburg Carnival Club: Adrian I. and Zelda I. are very popular with the little jesters. The Havelnarren and their child princes Klara I. and Mateo I. can also look forward to active participation. The young carnivalists are an important element of the events and bring a breath of fresh air into the celebrations.

November 11, 2025 will go down in the history of Brandenburg's carnival tradition - with a colorful parade, a melodic proclamation rite and a great community that stuck together despite the rain. The appeal to citizens to take part in the upcoming events was enthusiastically received by Mayor Steffen Scheller. We can only hope that the weather cooperates better in the carnival season that is now beginning. All information about the exciting events can be found on the clubs' websites, as brandenburg-live.com clearly shows.
