Summer vacation at Stechlinsee: A paradise for those seeking relaxation!
July 24, 2025 turned out to be a wonderful summer day, ideal for a trip to one of Brandenburg's beautiful bathing lakes. The MAZ reports that Lake Stechlin in Neuglobsow is now recommended as an absolute top destination.
The Stechlinsee is considered the deepest clear-water lake in Brandenburg at an impressive 70 meters and is therefore one of the largest bodies of water in northern Germany. The official bathing area in Neuglobsow currently shines with excellent water quality and invites you to take part in a variety of activities. Be it swimming, relaxing on the lawn or simply having a chat on the playground for the little ones - there is something for everyone here.
A paradise for water sports enthusiasts and nature lovers
For the active bathers, there is a 16 kilometer long circular route around the lake. Boat rentals for kayaks and stand-up paddleboards are also available, perfect for exploring the beautiful surroundings from the water. And the best part? Access to the lake is free, and parking costs only 1 euro per hour. The exact location? It is easy to find at Stechlinseestraße 16, 16775 Stechlin.
As far as water quality is concerned, Brandenburg will have designated 250 bathing water bodies in 2025, with 235 of these places receiving the excellent rating of “excellent”. This is also a result of the strict controls carried out by the health authorities, who regularly check the hygiene standards of the waters during the bathing season from May 15th to September 15th. According to the survey by mleuv.brandenburg.de, only two bathing areas are currently rated “adequate”, with the majority assuring swimming lovers a safe bathing experience.
Be careful of blue-green algae and current warnings
But conditions are not so ideal everywhere in Brandenburg. Swimming is currently not recommended at Hohenjesarscher Lake in Alt Zeschdorf as blue-green algae can pose a health risk. It is therefore advisable to find out about the current water quality at the respective bathing areas. This is possible on badestellen.brandenburg.de, where warning notices and profiles of bathing waters are also published.
So before you jump into the water, don't forget the weather! Bright to cloudy, with highs between 25 and 27 degrees, summer has a firm grip on Brandenburg. This means that not much stands in the way of a perfect day of swimming, be it at Stechlinsee or one of the other beautiful lakes in the country.
If you also want to jump into the MAZ summer quiz, remember that weekly prizes, starting with an ice cream machine, will be raffled off! A nice incentive to do something good for yourself in the summer and maybe even discover a new favorite place to swim.
