Construction work disrupts rail traffic: Important information for Oberhavel travelers!

From today, June 16, 2025, there are numerous timetable changes on the agenda that will affect travelers in the Oberhavel area and beyond. The reason for this is extensive construction work, which is expected to last until July 31, 2025. Anyone who relies on the RE5, RB12, RB20, RB32, RB54 or S8 lines should be careful and keep an eye on the current changes.

MAZ reports that passengers on the RE5 between Oranienburg and Berlin-Südkreuz will have to rethink their thinking in the next few months. There will be no direct connections here until July 31st. Instead, travelers can use the S-Bahn as a replacement.

Important adjustments to RB12 and other lines

The RB12, which runs from Templin via Oranienburg to Berlin-Ostkreuz, also has to cope with some changes. On June 16th and 17th, 2025, there will be no connection between Zehdenick and Berlin-Ostkreuz from 8:45 p.m.; buses and the S-Bahn will be available for passengers. From June 18th to 30th there will be no train service between Templin and Löwenberg - buses will also be in use here.

In addition, from June 20th at 8:45 p.m. until July 31st, 2025 there will be no connection between Nassenheide and Berlin-Ostkreuz; Buses and S-Bahn are also planned here. The RB20 will also not run between Oranienburg and Hennigsdorf in the evening and at night until June 20th, and the RB32 will stop its connection between Oranienburg and Berlin-Lichtenberg until July 31st, although the S-Bahn will help out here.

Further failures and replacement offers

Another downside is the RB54, which is completely canceled until June 30th. Travelers have to resort to buses, while train services on the S8 between Birkenwerder and Berlin-Pankow will also be suspended from June 20th to June 23rd from 9:45 p.m. Here passengers can use the S1 and buses from Hohen Neuendorf.

VBB points out that any alternative means of transport are used by various companies, including ODEG, NEB, and S-Bahn Berlin GmbH. The various transport companies are required to enable travelers to have a smooth flow of traffic despite the disruptions.

Travelers should do their research and plan well in advance to avoid inconveniences. The stations on the affected lines will be provided with relevant information. So if you rely on public transport in the next few weeks, you should always keep an eye on the current timetables!
