Colorful like us”: New street art piece enchants Oranienburg!
In Oranienburg the city gets an impressive new one Street art artwork a fresh coat of paint. A 175 square meter mural was created at Rudolf-Grosse-Straße 18 that symbolizes the diversity of municipal societies. It shows five hands holding a colorful bouquet of flowers together and represents cooperation and social cohesion in the city.
This work of art was commissioned by the LE.O Group, an association of local companies in the city of Oranienburg. The project, entitled “Colourful as Us”, highlights not only the craftsmanship, but also the city’s cultural and historical relics. You can see iconic sights like theLehnitz lock, thememory, theGovernor's House, theLockand theNicolai Church.
A community project
The creation of the work of art took a week, after four months of preparatory work. The young people from the Oranienburg youth club JUCA were actively involved in the implementation. The artistic signature comes from theCompany ART-EFX from Potsdam, under the leadership of managing director Ronny Bellovics.
The facade of the five-story residential building on which the work of art is emblazoned was provided by Wohnungsbaugesellschaft mbH (WOBA). The LE.O Group GmbH was founded on January 1, 2019 and has since been tasked with bundling and strategically developing various municipal activities. The focus is on core services such as finance, purchasing and human resources to meet the needs of a growing city.
The importance of street art
But what does street art mean for our cities? According to an initiative dedicated to urban art, graffiti and street art has the potential to fundamentally transform public spaces. Not only aesthetic but also social impulses can be provided. An example of this commitment is the three-part film series “Can art change public space?”, which the Urban Art Institute Hamburg e.V. and the Wissenart Foundation are planning. The films are intended to stimulate discussion and shed light on topics such as gender issues in art.
All of these aspects show how art can touch and shape not only walls, but also entire societies. The participation of youth and the integration of municipal structures are essential components of promoting a lively and inclusive city.
