The meaning of Street Art

But what does street art mean for our cities? According to an initiative that deals with Urban Art, graffiti and street art has the potential to fundamentally change public spaces. Not only aesthetic, but also social impulses can be set. An example of this commitment is the three -part film series "Can art change public space?", Which the Urban Art Institute Hamburg e.V. and the Knowledge Foundation are planning. The films should give suggestions for discussion and illuminate topics such as gender issues in art.

All of these aspects show how art can not only touch and shape all of the walls, but also entire societies. The participation of the youth and the integration of municipal structures are essential components to promote a living and inclusive city.
