There have been several recent incidents in Senftenberg that have put both the police and residents on alert. On Thursday morning there was a heinous act on Fischreiherstrasse in which unknown perpetrators smashed the window of a snack bar with paving stones. The resulting damage amounts to several thousand euros. The police officers secured traces at the scene of the incident, which are now being evaluated by the criminal police. But that is not the only incident that is causing a stir. On Friday morning, a driver of a SKODA drove with full force into a house wall on Schmiedestrasse. Unknown people have also been up to mischief in Vetschau: a wall and a shopping cart collection box on Kraftwerkstrasse were sprayed with red paint, which could cost a few hundred euros to put back in order.
Growing concerns about security

In this context, a 21-year-old from the Meißen district was recently arrested and is accused of planning an attack on an asylum center in Senftenberg. This incident was brought to light by an anonymous tip, resulting in a major police operation. During the searches, supported by special forces, potential explosive and incendiary devices were discovered. The police are under pressure to stop such incidents. Citizen safety is a key concern and it is crucial that all tips are taken seriously.
