Unidram Festival Potsdam: A spectacular theater weekend awaits you!

The 31st Unidram Festival in Potsdam, which began on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025, captivates numerous visitors with its experimental theater performances. This festival focuses on different emotions and innovative productions. Maz online reports on a remarkable installation by the Berlin artist Tobias Piero Dohm, which shows balls filled with sand. These balls form different patterns on the floor and visualize the connection between people, nature and time in collaboration with the sound designer Fabian Laute.

The variety of performances is impressive: a troupe from Prague presents the piece “Exit”, which is inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's text and impresses with its chaotic air shows with black humor. In addition, Max Frisch's story “Man Appears in the Holocene” will be performed in a walk-in installation by the Münster collective Rue Obscure. There is only one visitor at a time who can hear parts of the text via headphones and experience interactive stations.

Further productions and final concert

The duo Schoenbrodtkuerschner brings to the stage a “machine comedy for pianola and thaetrum mundi” that deals with the challenges of Europe’s mining regions. Five more productions are on the program on Saturday, including the production “Popcorn Machine” and the captivating production “La Manekine” by Compagnie La Pendue. This was founded in 2003 by Estelle Charlier and Romuald Collinet and is known for its use of puppetry as a universal human symbol. The current production adapts the Brothers Grimm story “The Girl Without Hands” and combines brutal female initiation, resilience and regaining freedom of action. Kulturfeste.de names a number of creative minds involved in the production, including lighting and technical director Anthony Lopez and music by Martin Kaspar Orkestar.

At the crowning conclusion of the festival, visitors can expect a free concert by the Rufus Temple Orchestra, which creates a great atmosphere with ragtime, hot jazz and swing. The Unidram Festival takes place in the Schiffbauergasse cultural quarter in Potsdam until November 8th and offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of experimental theater.

The festival is very popular with its colorful program and attracts not only theater lovers, but also those who want to get to know new perspectives and forms of expression in theater.
