Excitement in Cologne-Kalk: shots fired at an apartment building – witnesses wanted!
On the night of Sunday, July 13, 2025, a frightening event occurred in Cologne-Kalk when shots were fired at a residential building on Eythstrasse. At around 4:10 a.m. unknown perpetrators fired at least four shots, but fortunately no one was injured. The CityReport reported on an intensive police operation that quickly followed. The officers cordoned off the crime scene and found four bullet casings in front of the apartment building. Bullet holes were discovered on the front door of the house, which shows the direction of the shot.
A Ford that was parked in front of the house was damaged by a grazing shot on the hood. Witnesses were able to report that the shooter fled towards Lüttringhauser Straße in a white car with a panoramic roof and Bergheimer registration (BM). The Cologne criminal police have started the investigation and are investigating possible connections to previous shooting incidents in the area. Witnesses are asked to call 0221 229-0 or email poststelle.koeln@polizei.nrw.de.
Another dramatic incident
Although the police carried out protective measures at the murdered man's whereabouts, he showed little cooperation. On Tuesday, shortly before his death, he posted his location in real time on social media. The suspected perpetrator fled on an e-scooter after shooting the man as he got into a car.
Background to organized crime
The increased shootings and brutal attacks point to a possible connection with organized crime. According to Statista, there were a total of 642 investigations into organized crime in Germany in 2023, with a significant proportion of these proceedings relating to drug trafficking. The police suspect that the repeated attacks on the 32-year-old are connected to criminal structures, which are often organized in socially isolated groups. These clans, many of them with Turkish or German citizenship, are primarily active in the drug trade.
Incidents like the one in Cologne require rapid action and close cooperation between authorities to restore order in the affected neighborhoods and prevent future attacks. However, the citizens of Cologne should not allow themselves to be unsettled by such acts of violence, but should be vigilant and inform the police if they see anything suspicious.
