Wehrlein continues to fight for the world title after a strong E-Prix in Berlin!

On July 12, 2025, Formula E was a guest in Berlin and the fans experienced an exciting race on the Tempelhofer Feld. Pascal Wehrlein, who drives for the Porsche team, secured second place in the E-Prix. This means he remains in the race for his second world championship title, even though he started the race from ninth place. His main rival, Oliver Rowland from Nissan, had to end the race early after an accident on lap 33, which played into Wehrlein's hands as he was able to collect important points. Wehrlein's gap to Rowland is now 50 points, with three races still remaining until the end of the season, including the second race in Berlin next Sunday and the World Championship races in London on July 26th and 27th.

Victory went to Jaguar's Mitch Evans, who dominated both qualifying and the race. Evans celebrated his first win since the season opener in São Paulo and now shares the all-time record with Sébastien Buemi with 14 wins. Pole-sitter Evans led the majority of the race and was able to steadily increase his lead, while Wehrlein had to show all sorts of fighting spirit to secure points given his late start.

An exciting race with ups and downs

Wehrlein was positive about his own race, despite being dropped three places after a collision with teammate Antonio Felix da Costa, who eventually crossed the finish line in tenth place. The incident also resulted in a five-second penalty for da Costa, ending his chances of a podium finish. With this constellation, it remains exciting in the battle for the team and driver championships, in which Porsche is currently 30 points ahead of Nissan.

The route in Berlin brought additional excitement into the game; Two safety cars were activated following incidents during the race, including an unfortunate collision between Jake Dennis and another driver. These interruptions add extra thrills and show how unpredictable Formula E racing is. Mich Evans, on the other hand, benefited from the situation and cleverly activated his ATTACK MODE boosts to extend his lead.

Wehrlein remains optimistic

Despite the challenges, Pascal Wehrlein remains optimistic and still hopes for victory in the home race. “It was an intense race and I am happy with second place. It is important that we continue to collect points,” said Wehrlein after the race. With the upcoming events he still has the chance to reduce his gap to Rowland and bring the title to Cologne.

Overall, Formula E remains an exciting racing series with unpredictable twists and turns and passionate drivers fighting for the title. The next two races in Berlin and London promise additional action and adrenaline, and fans can already look forward to further highlights of the season.
