The Brandenburg Prevention Prize 2024
Another highlight was the announcement of the Brandenburg Prevention Prize 2024 as a creative competition for young people between the ages of 6 and 21. Over 70 contributions from all age groups and districts in Brandenburg were submitted. The award ceremony took place on June 10, 2024 as part of the 29th German Prevention Day (DPT) in Cottbus. There, over 1,700 participants discussed the topic of “Changing Security” and exchanged views on current challenges and possible solutions in prevention work cityreport.pnr24-online.de.
The founding of the LPR on March 21, 2000 was an important step in the legal and political landscape of Brandenburg. The aim is to further develop comprehensive crime prevention that brings together a wide range of actors from society, politics and the private sector praeventionstag.de. Special topics such as the protection of children and young people and the fight against politically motivated crime play a prominent role.
Focus on extremism prevention
The prevention of political extremism is becoming particularly important. Police projects aim to identify extremist ideologies and behavior at an early stage and to protect affected population groups. Children and young people are specifically addressed in order to develop a strong understanding of democracy and values. Prevention events promote the recognition of discriminatory or xenophobic attitudes and take place in close cooperation with many actors, including the “Tolerant Brandenburg” advisory network and the Office for the Protection of the Constitution polizei.brandenburg.de.
In summary, it can be said that the efforts towards safety and prevention work in Brandenburg are not only essential, but also forward-looking. The LPR has established itself as a central authority that makes a valuable contribution to the offensive fight against crime through a variety of measures and close cooperation with society.
