Speed camera alarm on the A19: High penalties can be imposed for speeding!
What's happening on the streets around Cologne today? On July 8, 2025, drivers on the A19 in the Wittstock/Dosse area in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district, Brandenburg, have to keep a particularly vigilant eye on speed. At 7:00 a.m. a mobile radar box was set up there to bring speed offenders to their senses. With a speed limit of 120 km/h, it is advisable to press the accelerator a little more gently, as speed cameras are essential for road safety.
Important to know: the speed camera information was last updated today at 11:16 a.m. and reminds us that speeding can result in heavy fines. These sanctions are regulated within the framework of the Road Traffic Act (StVO), which clearly defines the penalties for violations. Of course, you should have a good knack for adapting your speed to the respective traffic situation in order to avoid unnecessary costs.
As for the fines
In connection with the StVO amendment of April 28, 2020, the fines were only recently increased. In urban areas, for example, drivers now have to expect a fine of 70 euros if they drive 16 km/h too fast, whereas if they exceed 21 km/h they face a month's driving ban and a point on the driving fitness register. Outside town, the “lower limit” is 16 km/h; here there is a fine of 60 euros, but this does not result in a point.
- Bußgelder innerorts:
- 10 km/h zu schnell: 30 Euro
- 16 km/h zu schnell: 70 Euro
- 26 km/h zu schnell: 180 Euro (1 Monat Fahrverbot)
- Bußgelder außerorts:
- 10 km/h zu schnell: 20 Euro
- 16 km/h zu schnell: 60 Euro
- 26 km/h zu schnell: 150 Euro (1 Monat Fahrverbot)
Technical support prohibited
Particularly interesting: Radar warning devices and speed camera apps are banned in Germany. If you rely on navigation apps, you should make sure that the warning function is deactivated so that you don't get caught reaching into your wallet. However, radio warnings are permitted, which may reassure some drivers.
The A19, which runs as part of European Route 55 from Rostock to Wittstock/Dosse, is an important traffic axis with a total length of 123 km. This makes it all the more important to adhere to the traffic rules, as a one-month driving ban can be imposed if you exceed 26 km/h. This should be a warning to every road user to adapt their speed to the conditions.
Ultimately, a study shows that 56% of fine notices may be incorrect. It is therefore advisable not to lose your nerve immediately if a decision is made, but rather to keep the possibility of an objection open within two weeks.
Enjoy a safe ride and remember to keep an eye on speed!
