New cycling hub: Digitalization for Prignitz and Ruppiner Seenland!
A new chapter for cyclists in Prignitz and Ostprignitz-Ruppin - the local action groups LAG Storchenland Prignitz and LAG Ostprignitz-Ruppin have successfully completed an innovative cooperation project on cycling junction signposting. This means that the tourist cycle path network in both LEADER regions will not only be further developed conceptually, but also digitally upgraded. This reports Neuruppin.de.
The project, which was launched in October 2024, aims to not only analyze and optimize existing cycle paths, but also to close gaps in the path network. This comprehensive project is supported by the Prignitz and Ruppiner Seenland tourism associations and the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district. The technical support comes from the planning office absolutGPS in Leipzig.
Results and digital implementation
The results achieved are promising: the maps were uniformly revised and contemporary materials for cyclists were created. By integrating the routes into OpenStreetMap, they are now easier to find in common navigation apps, which makes planning bike tours much easier. The radinfra.de platform maps the cycling infrastructure in Germany in a detailed and standardized manner, which enables the cycle path situation to be continuously improved. This ensures that cyclists always have the most up-to-date information available radinfra.de emphasized.
An important part of the project were workshops that covered topics such as updating digital data and maintaining the cycle path system. The aim of these meetings was to promote a dialogue about tailored information and options for action for the region. In addition, activities to improve the supply situation along the cycle paths are planned for the period after the end of the project.
Outlook and follow-up measures
A further step is already planned for 2026: the revision, addition and updating of the signage in the area is on the agenda. This is financed by LEADER funds from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the state of Brandenburg. The implementation of these measures shows that the region is ready to face the challenges of cycling and to create an attractive infrastructure for cyclists, which is also exemplary in terms of data availability, as the diverse data analyzes on radinfra.de show.
Overall, the initiators are confident about the future: With a well-planned and digitally supported cycle path network, cycling in the region will be even more enjoyable and thus make a valuable contribution to sustainable tourism.
