Neuruppin: Safety thanks to concrete blocks at Martinimarkt and new integration!

Neuruppin is blossoming: the Martinimarkt is just around the corner and promises a lively festival for the whole city. But not only is the anticipation of the market noticeable, security measures have also been strengthened. Large concrete blocks were placed on President Street to increase the security of the event. This is a response to the tragic incidents in Berlin in 2016 and Magdeburg in 2024, which show how important protection has become at major events. The access barriers that were already used at the May and harbor festivals should remain selective. This ensures that emergency and rescue vehicles continue to have quick access to the celebrations.

But it's not just in Neuruppin that people are making a name for themselves. There is currently some tension in Heiligengrabe. Mayor Karl-Friedrich Schült is facing severe criticism because he independently decided to purchase leaf bags. The Heiligengraber Land/Citizen List faction complains that this decision was made without prior voting. The leaf bags, which are to be included in the street cleaning regulations, could now cause an additional stir.

Road traffic and rail replacement in Neustadt

There is also a lot of hustle and bustle in Neustadt. There has been rail replacement traffic (SEV) here for three months due to the general renovation of the railway line between Berlin and Hamburg. This important route is expected to remain closed until April 2026. Commuters have now gotten used to the SEV, but the location of the bus stops is repeatedly criticized. Many stops are located far from the train stations, which poses a challenge for travelers.

New migration advisory board for integration

A ray of hope for integration in Neuruppin is the establishment of a migration advisory board. This committee, consisting of four men and three women, is intended to address challenges in the areas of migration and integration and forward suggestions to the city council. It is the first of its kind in Ostprignitz-Ruppin and could make a valuable contribution to society.

But there is also positive news in the region. A new practice run by the farm veterinarians has opened on Maxim-Gorki-Straße in Kyritz and is already fully booked for the first few days. This third branch, alongside those in Neuruppin and Wittstock, is intended to improve veterinary care in the region. The official opening will be celebrated on November 28th.

Neuruppin and the surrounding area are therefore changing. While security measures and discussions about local politics fill the headlines, new offers and integration initiatives are also available to enrich life in the region. It remains to be hoped that the city will continue to develop well and the community will be strengthened.
