Rescue station opens in Wildberg – Zernitz remains without help!
There is good news for the population in Wildberg as a new rescue station has been opened. This guard is an important step towards improving emergency medical care in the region. From autumn onwards, the necessary staff will be available to operate the station effectively. But for Zernitz the situation looks completely different. A similar development is not expected here, as the plan to set up a rescue station was put on hold a few years ago due to a lack of staff. This was confirmed by the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district administration, which no longer considers the 2017 district council decision to be relevant. The demographic and structural conditions have changed significantly since then.
A new, independent report on emergency medical care was commissioned last year. The results are to be presented to the members of the district and finance committee in November. Initial findings indicate that strengthening the existing main guard stations in Neuruppin, Wittstock and Kyritz could effectively improve emergency medical care. A concentration of resources could not only relieve the burden on surrounding guards, but also optimize valuable response times.
Challenges in Zernitz
An additional location in Zernitz would probably not bring about a significant improvement in aid deadlines. The anxious question remains as to how emergency care can be guaranteed in the Neustadt office, since the ambulances have to accept longer journey times here. The situation could worsen even further if the Lohm fire brigade unit were eliminated. A suggestion from the mayor of Zernitz for a cost-effective solution in Zernitz train station was also not implemented.
What remains is the district's planning of a qualitative further development of the emergency service. A new working time model with 24-hour shifts plays a crucial role. Training measures have also been intensified in order to address the shortage of skilled workers in the industry. It remains to be seen what measures will ultimately be taken and how they will affect the current situation.
The future of emergency services
In order to address the shortage of skilled workers and the challenges in the rescue service, the focus is on improved training, which should also increase the attractiveness for new employees. In view of demographic change, it is crucial that training is not only quantitative but also of high quality. This is the only way to maintain the security of all citizens in the region.
For Wildberg, the innovations represent progress that will certainly increase the quality of life of residents. However, the prospect of support from Zernitz remains uncertain because, despite all efforts, it will be a challenge to ensure emergency care across the board.
