On the night of Wednesday, November 12, 2025, several serious traffic accidents occurred on the A19, one of the most important north-south connections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, which led to the motorway having to be partially closed. This reports maz-online.de.
At around 7:30 p.m., a 44-year-old Mazda driver left the road, apparently due to a microsleep, and collided with a truck trailer. Fortunately, the occupants were uninjured, but property damage amounted to around 50,000 euros.
Drunk driving and other injuries
The situation escalated further when, around 10 p.m., a 52-year-old Tesla driver drove into a motorway maintenance safety trailer that had been set up to protect the previous accident. He was slightly injured and was also under the influence of alcohol. The material damage amounted to around 200,000 euros. Due to these incidents, the A19 had to be closed until around 2:30 a.m. the following day.
Later, around 11:40 p.m., another accident occurred involving three trucks and two cars. These vehicles were jammed on the highway due to the backlog. Seven people suffered minor injuries and the resulting material damage is estimated at around 130,000 euros.
Traffic congestion on the A19
