Seedamm in Neuruppin closed for two years from June 23rd – This is what you need to know!
From Monday, June 23, 2025, the sea dam in Neuruppin will be closed to motorized vehicles for around two years. This measure is part of a comprehensive renovation project on the sea dam bridges, which already saw their first building block in April 2025 with a full closure for asphalting. According to information from maz-online.de The closure, which will divert up to 8,000 cars a day, will mean school buses can still pass through on Monday morning. But from 8 a.m. the road will be closed to all motorized road users.
Access will be maintained for pedestrians and cyclists, although the aim is to enable around 1,400 cyclists to use the sea dam undisturbed every day. The official diversion route for vehicles coming from the south is clearly signposted and leads via Alt Ruppin and the B167 to Neuruppin. Alternative routes via Gildenhall can only be used from June 27th or 28th as remaining work on the level crossing is taking place there until June 27th.
Redirection options
The bypass route via Nietwerder and Nietwerder extension to the B167 ensures that road users do not get stuck on the route. This route is also relevant for buses to Neuruppin. For safety reasons, traffic lights are temporarily being used at the level crossing in Alt Ruppin. In addition, part of Neuruppiner Steinstrasse will be closed from June 23rd, making it impossible to turn into Seetorviertel.
The measures mean that access to the lake promenade and other facilities such as the Mark Brandenburg Resort and the thermal baths will only be possible via the old town. Residents on Seestrasse have already expressed concerns about the expected increase in traffic. There the road will also be converted into a one-way street towards the city center.
Project scope and goal
The renovation also includes structural measures such as the renewal of the roadway, curbs and bridge caps as well as the replacement of bridge railings. He explains that Brandenburg State Road Administration. These renovations are not just short-term solutions, but are intended to ensure a sustainable improvement in traffic conditions in the long term.
The discussion about the impact of these infrastructure projects is particularly relevant, as is an examination of the KIT library shows. This makes it clear that a holistic analysis of the infrastructure is urgently needed. The focus must be on taking into account the entire life cycle of the structures and their influence on traffic in order to be able to better design future plans.
In summary, the sea dam will not only play a central role for Neuruppin, but also shows how important the debates about modern infrastructure are: they affect us all!
