Steinmeier in Neuruppin: A personal exchange with the citizens!

In a remarkable initiative, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is promoting personal exchange in Neuruppin (Ostprignitz-Ruppin district) from July 1st to 3rd, 2025. His visit has a clear goal: He doesn't want to make big speeches, but rather to get in direct contact with the citizens Daily Mirror reported.

His program includes a variety of activities, including dragon boating on Lake Ruppiner and an open-air reading with Fontane literary prize winner Lisa Kränzler. Steinmeier will also visit the contemporary art gallery “Kunstraum Neuruppin” and take a look behind the scenes at Automationssysteme Leske GmbH. Another important point on his trip is a discussion in the “multi-generational house in the crumb box” about developments in Neuruppin as well as a technical discussion in the district court about domestic violence, such as Moz supplemented.

Personal encounters and appreciation

Steinmeier is warmly greeted by the citizens upon his arrival in Neuruppin. What remains particularly memorable is an encounter with an older lady who gave him a pleasant smile. The atmosphere is relaxed and there is time for a bratwurst and warm conversation during a visit to the market square. Steinmeier also jovially congratulates a tourist on choosing Neuruppin as a holiday destination.

His official residence will be moved to the “Up Hus” hotel for the duration of his stay. This measure is intended to promote exchange with residents and insights into local issues. Steinmeier himself described his “local time” as an important initiative to revive the conversation that had suffered during the pandemic.

Part of “Germany local time”

Neuruppin is the 16th stop in Steinmeier's “Local Time Germany” project, which aims to promote dialogue with citizens. The series was launched shortly before the end of the Corona lockdown. Steinmeier had previously stopped in cities such as Stadtallendorf, Nordhorn and Weiden. These visits are not only political in nature, but also aim to strengthen community and understanding of regional issues such as Hesse show notes.

His visit ends on July 3rd with a ceremonial award ceremony in the Kulturkirche, through which Steinmeier expresses his appreciation for voluntary work in Neuruppin. It is to be hoped that such initiatives will not only bring politics but also people's hearts closer together in the future.
