Trecker-Maik: On an adventurous trip to Mallorca for his 50th birthday!

Today, June 14, 2025, there is exciting news from the heart of the journey of Maik Horn, better known as “Trecker-Maik”. The passionate tractor driver has set out to travel to Barcelona with his tractor, from where he would then take a ferry to Mallorca. The crew, consisting of a transporter and a GDR W50 truck, has already completed the first section of around 800 kilometers from Kränzlin near Neuruppin to Kehl near the French border. It couldn't get more adventurous!

You don't need to think long about the reason for this extraordinary journey. Maik plans to celebrate his 50th birthday on the beautiful island of Mallorca while avoiding the challenges of flying. However, the crew had bad luck with the Wartburg 1.3, which was driven by Daniela Horn. A defective head gasket meant that the vehicle had to be handed over to the ADAC in Bad Mergentheim, which will now bring the Wartburg back to Dabergotz in a collective transport. Daniela is now traveling in the van and reports that they still have an impressive 1,145 kilometers to go to Barcelona.

Ferry connections and travel planning

The ferry to Mallorca is reserved for June 24th, so the crew has enough time to arrive at their destination on time. There are several options for the crossing from Barcelona to Mallorca. The ferry journey takes between 5 and 8 hours depending on the destination. Ferry companies such as Trasmed (Grimaldi Group), Balearia and GNV offer regular services, with departures usually taking place at night between 9:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. and occasionally at 1:30 a.m. Arrival in Palma is around 5:30 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., or in Alcudia between 3:00 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. Ticket prices for the ferries start at 17 euros for a seat and can go up to 90 euros for a cabin. Transporting your own car also costs between 40 and 90 euros, depending on the ferry company.

Culture and sights in Barcelona

Barcelona itself is not only the starting point for the onward journey to Mallorca, but also a city full of cultural highlights. Before Maik and his crew board the ferry, they have the opportunity to experience the lively atmosphere of the city. Gaudí's masterpieces invite you to discover them, while the diverse dining and shopping options offer atmospheric experiences. The port from which the ferries depart is comfortable and easily accessible and is located just 9 kilometers from the city center and 15 kilometers from the airport. Parking is also available at the port, complemented by a convenient taxi service and bus stops.

All in all, the trip of Trecker-Maik and his crew has already caused a few surprises, and the anticipation of Mallorca is certainly growing with every kilometer driven. It remains exciting to see whether they arrive in Barcelona on time and whether nothing stands in the way of the birthday party. It will be exciting to see what they will experience in the coming days!
