Series of accidents on the A24 and A19: 96,000 euros in damage over the weekend!
Last week, emergency services in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin and Prignitz districts were deployed several times to deal with various accidents on the A24 and A19 motorways. This series of traffic accidents not only caused a lot of material damage, but also long traffic jams and a lot of excitement among road users.
On July 11, 2025 at 10:25 a.m. there was a remarkable incident on the A24 between Neuruppin and Herzsprung. A 67-year-old Audi driver braked in the right lane due to a traffic jam. A 41-year-old VW driver reacted in time, but a 59-year-old Audi driver was unable to prevent a collision. A Honda driver later drove into the Audi, causing total damage of around 35,000 euros. Fortunately, the occupants remained unharmed, but two vehicles had to be towed away and a backlog of around 8 km formed.
Waves of accidents
The same day brought further accidents on the A24. At 3:17 p.m., a 47-year-old Volvo driver overlooked a VW that was slowing down due to traffic and rear-ended it, causing material damage of 1,000 euros, but fortunately no injuries. Just an hour later, at 4:18 p.m., there was another rear-end collision when a 37-year-old Opel driver overlooked a Tesla that was braking and also rear-ended. The material damage here also amounted to 1,000 euros.
Things became particularly dangerous on July 12th. A 52-year-old BMW driver swerved due to inappropriate speed and overturned on the A19 towards Rostock. Three passengers were slightly injured and taken to hospital. The total damage amounts to around 25,000 euros and the vehicle was no longer drivable. A similar incident occurred on the same day between Pritzwalk and Meyenburg on the A24, when a 56-year-old Peugeot driver lost control of his vehicle due to aquaplaning in heavy rain, which caused further damage of around 25,000 euros.
Safe travel on the A24
On July 13, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., a 24-year-old Toyota driver had a microsleep and drove off the road. A drug test came back positive for cannabis and a blood sample was taken. The material damage amounts to 7,000 euros. The A24 between Berlin and Hamburg is known for its frequent and sometimes spectacular traffic accidents. The motorway is one of the busiest routes in Germany, which makes the events all the more regrettable. After an accident, it is often recommended to drive around the affected section to avoid further complications, such as Day24 reported.
The health and social costs of traffic accidents are significant. According to the Statistics from the Federal Statistical Office The results of accidents can form the basis for important measures in transport policy. Such a comprehensive record includes not only the accidents themselves, but also the causes of accidents, which is of great benefit for legislation, traffic safety and road construction.
Overall, the total damage from the entire series of accidents amounts to around 96,000 euros. It becomes clear once again how important caution and consideration are in road traffic.
