Christmas magic in Wittstock: the market square and church square invite you!
The anticipation for the contemplative time in December is growing! The Christmas market in Wittstock takes place from December 3rd to 7th and promises a great experience for young and old. The market extends across the market square and the church square at St. Mary's Church, where visitors can look forward to a varied program.
The market square opens its doors every day from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays even until 10 p.m. There are not only the classic Christmas treats such as mulled wine and crepes, but also a colorful fun program with rides. A highlight are the numerous food stands that treat hungry guests to mushroom pans and grilled sausages.
Contemplative moments on the church square
While the market square offers more hustle and bustle, the church square has a more classic, contemplative atmosphere. A cozy stage program will take place here in the early evening from December 5th to 7th. Special attractions are hands-on activities that you can enjoy with friends and family. Local craftsmen will also offer their works of art and there will be the opportunity to buy regional products.
For the little guests there is the Secret Santa workshop in the parish garden, where they can do crafts together with schools and initiatives. Santa Claus will also be on site to delight the children with gifts and create a Christmas atmosphere.
Events and opening ceremony
To celebrate the start of the market, a preliminary event entitled “Lights on” will take place on November 28th. From 4 p.m. Mayor Philipp Wacker will switch on the festive lights on the Christmas tree and in the city center. A light parade for children, who can take part with lanterns, will round off the celebration.
St. Mary's Church also hosts a craft market with a Christmas program in which choirs, soloists and a wind orchestra provide musical entertainment. A highlight will be the musical devotion on December 7th, which will end the Christmas market in a festive atmosphere.
In a time characterized by hectic pace, the Christmas market in Wittstock offers the opportunity to relax, maintain traditions and enjoy the anticipation of the big festival. It's worth a visit - so go ahead!
