Today, July 14th, 2025, an official weather warning applies to the Potsdam-Mittelmark district in Brandenburg. The German Weather Service news.de reports that ... warns of strong thunderstorms coming from the west and of wind gusts of up to 60 km/h be accompanied. This thunderstorm warning is valid until 12:15 p.m.
It is recommended not to go outdoors or seek shelter in secure buildings during this weather. Lightning strikes are particularly dangerous and can lead to loss of life. Flying objects also pose a serious danger. Loose objects should therefore be secured and tents and covers should be securely fastened.

All hourly weather data illustrate the volatility: While at 11:00 a.m. the wind was only blowing at 11 km/h, at 12:00 p.m. the wind speed was already 17 km/h, which indicates the approaching thunderstorms. Despite the currently clear skies, you should think twice about spending time outdoors.

As the national warning center in Offenbach reports, more extreme weather events could even occur. According to 14-tage-wettervorhersage.de, not only are thunderstorm warnings on the list, but heat warnings and UV warnings are also active. Possible dangers are constantly updated by the DWD.
The situation should not be underestimated: the weather has already caused chaos in the region in the past few weeks. Tag24 reported that... extremely strong gusts of up to 110 km/h were reported, which in some cases caused severe damage. Early predictions and warnings are therefore essential to prevent anything worse from happening.
