In contrast, the neighboring town of Borkheide recorded around 12,500 bathers in the forest pool. The reduced number of visitors seems to have numerous positive effects, especially on the parking situation, which has now eased thanks to additional parking spaces and less crowds.

Innovations and attractions

However, the outdoor swimming pool operation in Beelitz is not only characterized by the numbers, but also by many positive innovations. New showers and lockers were installed in the facility, while the long-awaited free-standing changing rooms could only go into operation at the end of August due to delivery delays. Mayor Bernhard Knuth emphasizes that the decision to build the new outdoor pool in the water tower park on July 26th was positively received and that the focus is particularly on the fun factor for children and young people. These are the largest user group who are enthusiastic about the attractions such as the long water slide or the spacious diving pool.

The circumstances that led to the decline also have an impact on the Google rating of the Beelitz facility. The average value is 3.8 out of 5 stars, slightly below last year's value of 3.9. The clear water, the cleanliness and the beautiful sandy beach are particularly positive. There was criticism regarding shaded areas and a lack of changing tables and mirrors.
