Bodo Krause looks back on 100 days as mayor: The first successes!

The new mayor of Kleinmachnow, Bodo Krause from the CDU, has been in office since April 7, 2025 and is taking stock after a hundred days. His words demonstrate a clear focus on the importance of communicating with citizens, schools and the local economy. “We want to make our administration more productive and intensify the exchange with entrepreneurs,” says Krause, who is taking over from Michael Grubert (SPD).

The induction phase will last until the end of August 2025 and represents an opportunity for Krause to fundamentally address the challenges of the community. “It's about informing citizens at an early stage and actively involving them in the decision-making process,” said the mayor, who, among other things, is also planning regular citizens' consultation hours at the town hall market.

The priorities of the new term of office

Krause laid the foundation of his term in office with three main topics. He aims for a more productive administration, wants to improve communication with local entrepreneurs and initiate an early exchange with residents about solutions to existing problems. An example of this are the parking zone signs, which have already been removed following complaints from citizens. The first citizens' meeting on this topic has already taken place.

Another important point is securing trade tax revenue. Krause has already made initial contacts, including with Ebay in the Europarc Dreilinden. “We have to create jobs and strengthen the economic base of our community,” he emphasizes, while between 5,000 and 6,000 jobs and 260 to 270 apartments are to be created in the planned commercial area.

Citizen participation as the key to success

At a time when citizen participation is becoming increasingly important, Krause draws on the lessons of past reforms. A successful example is the municipal and administrative reform (KVR) in Rhineland-Palatinate, where the early involvement of citizens in decision-making processes was crucial. “We don’t just want to talk, we also want to actively involve citizens,” explains Krause, pointing to the growing interest in a new culture of communication and participation in politics. As the Federal Agency for Civic Education shows, well-organized citizen participation can strengthen the credibility of politics and contribute to the modernization of democracy.

In this context, Krause is concerned with the issue of wild boars in the community, even if it is not the dominant problem. Difficulties with the hunting authorities create additional challenges. In addition, the roof of the Kleinmachnow Kammerspiele urgently needs to be repaired before winter 2026/2027 - another issue that the mayor wants to address.

Krause holds several positions, including chairman of the supervisory board of the outdoor pool company. A zero budget will be presented in September in order to conserve reserves. “The coming weeks will be challenging for our community,” he says, as he continues to push forward the steps he has already taken to improve administration and citizen communication.

Krause asked citizens for support for his election campaign, as this is often costly. He set up a donation account to secure financial resources. One thing is certain: Krause has a good handle on the challenges in Kleinmachnow and will do everything in his power to continue the dialogue with the citizens.
