On July 15, 2025, the Potsdam-Mittelmark region was able to look forward to a successful business meeting. The company breakfast, which took place at the Fliederhof Syring in Michendorf, brought together around 40 entrepreneurs, freelancers and those interested in starting a business. Organized by the network School & Economic Forum PM in cooperation with the district's economic development agency, the goal was clear: networking and exchange of information to strengthen the economic basis in the region.
Claudia Segbert from the economic development department opened the event and welcomed those present, including Claudia Nowka, the mayor of Michendorf. At such an event, the focus is on direct contact - after all, personal encounters are essential for economic development. Topics such as choice of location, investments, funding opportunities and personnel recruitment were discussed just as intensively as the challenges in the interaction between companies and administration.
Support for companies and professionals
A highlight of the event was the contribution from the Fläming Tourism Association. V., who presented the employer brand “The Realizers”. The aim of this initiative is to position the Fläming region as an attractive place to work and live. The response showed that there is a great need for practical support and exchange in the region.
In a constantly changing labor market, securing skilled workers is a central issue. The Federal Ministry of Economics reports on the need to increase the labor force participation of various groups of people, including women, older people and people with a migrant background. The federal government adopted a comprehensive skilled workers strategy in autumn 2022 to actively combat the shortage of skilled workers. It is important to break down barriers and better integrate people with potential.
Continuation of the exchange
Another important aspect is the transition from school to work, which is often a challenge for both young people and employers. In order to facilitate this process, the community network School & Economic Forum PM was launched in 2019, which has established itself as an innovative network for securing skilled workers. Regular working groups and school projects ensure that young people are well prepared for the world of work.
The company breakfast has long since established itself as an integral part of regional economic development. The next opportunity for entrepreneurs to exchange ideas will be on November 25, 2025 in Stahnsdorf. A good date to set new impulses and make further connections.
