A13 towards Berlin completely closed after truck fire – traffic jam until noon!
A truck fire is causing significant traffic disruptions on the A13 motorway towards Berlin today. As tagesspiegel.de reports, the incident occurred on Wednesday morning, more precisely around 5:50 a.m., between the Mittenwalde and Ragow junctions. The affected truck trailer was completely engulfed in flames, and thick clouds of smoke and meter-high flames were visible from afar.
The alerted fire department immediately started fighting the fire. Due to the necessary extinguishing and rescue work, the road in the direction of Berlin was completely closed. Traffic is currently being rerouted via the Groß Köris junction, which not only poses a challenge for drivers, but can also lead to longer traffic jams. The closure is not expected to be lifted until midday, as initial estimates suggest.
No injuries – investigations are ongoing
Fortunately, there were no injuries in this incident as the trailer's tractor was detached in time. However, the cause of the fire remains unclear and the police have started an investigation into the cause of the fire. This is not the first truck fire of the day, as a trailer loaded with fruit burned on the A113 in Berlin during the night, causing similar problems.
The extensive reporting on such traffic incidents reflects not only the severity of the situation, but also the importance of traffic safety, as promoted by BALM. The authority carries out numerous truck and bus inspections and compiles monthly and annual toll statistics in order to continuously monitor and improve the traffic situation.
The work of the traffic authorities is essential for safety on our roads and shows that the transport industry requires a good hand to ensure smooth operations even in crisis situations. Drivers and road users are therefore asked to observe the diversions and be patient while the emergency services on site do their best to bring the situation under control as quickly as possible.
