Brandenburg strengthens Jewish communities with 1.2 million euros in funding!

In November 2025 there will be fresh news from Brandenburg: The state has significantly increased its funding for Jewish communities. As the Jewish General reported, the annual support will now be increased to around 1.2 million euros. This is a real ray of hope for the communities and an important sign of appreciation.

The official declaration of the increase was signed by department head Manja Schüle (SPD), who underlined the importance of this support. This step not only affects the largest regional association of Jewish communities, but also the West Jewish regional association and the law-abiding regional community, which can also look forward to increased funding.

Investing in the community

To make the numbers concrete: The largest regional association, which represents a total of six municipalities in the region, sees an increase in its funding from around 542,000 euros in the previous year to 810,000 euros now. This means that communities from cities such as Potsdam, Cottbus and Frankfurt (Oder), which together have around 1,600 members, can plan for the future.

The West Regional Association, which represents three communities in Potsdam and Brandenburg an der Havel, is also receiving more support. Here the grants increase from 173,000 euros to an impressive 260,000 euros. The law-abiding Jewish regional community also benefits; its funding is increased from 35,000 euros to 52,500 euros.

Another step towards security

In addition to these amounts, the state of Brandenburg is providing a further 450,000 euros that are specifically intended for security measures for the Jewish communities. This is a right step to take community safety concerns seriously and create a space for peaceful coexistence.

Another highlight is the financial support for the operation of the synagogue center in Potsdam, which is estimated at 650,000 euros. This not only strengthens a place of gathering and faith, but also promotes social interaction within the community.

These measures show that the Jewish communities in Brandenburg are not only heard, but also receive concrete support to carry out their valuable work. The increase in funding is a positive signal that encourages and nurtures hope for a stable path for the future.

At a time when many communities are facing challenges, it is important that such investments are made. Although we are sometimes faced with unexpected challenges, as can be the case when debugging programming, with the right tools and determination, solutions can be found.
